I bought an HP PSC 950 for my new Flat Panel iMac and have been having a hard time getting it to work correctly. When I print something it will take approximately 15 minutes and then give me a communication error. I tried unistalling the software and reinstalling, including all those hidden files. I also changed the USB cable all to no avail. I used the updated software from the HP site instead of the CD. What can I do to get this thing to work. It's no more than a $400 paper weight at this point and HP customer support has been completely useless.

I believe you have run into the HP driver conundrum, ie great printers lousy drivers. I am using a G55xi with their 4.0 driver and OSX10.1. Sometimes it works sometines it doesnt. I once tried to print out a web page but gave up after half an hour. With OS 9.2.1, I find the v3.0 driver is much more stable. I agree with your comment about HP customer support it is useless. Even though I am on their email list for new drivers, I have never been informed of an update by them, usually I find out via a forum. I can't even find a place for Mac customers to send an email on their website. If HP can pull Compaq down to their level I think Apple can gain a lot of market share.
