Apple should consider adding a Memory Stick port to all future consumer level Macs. As in Son's Memory Stick. Sony has done an incredible job of making almost every consumer electronic gadget they produce cabable of reading Memory Sticks. Apple should grab this ball and run with it. They could advance Memory Stick to industry standard status. It could become the future floppy disk.

But given Apple and Sony's rivalry, and the fact that only Sony's products (yes that's a lot of products, but not the entire market share)have a slot for a memory stick, I see this as unlikely. Not a bad thought, but unlikely......

I bever really thought of them as having a rivalry. I guess they do, but Sony is so much more thana PC company it is easy for me to ignore their dsktops and laptops. And given the way Jobs spent much of last year praising Sony as a company, I thought it may be possible for these companies to help each other out.
Not much logical thinking there. I just think Memory Stick would make a good complement to an iMac or iBook.
The whole area of solid-state digital media is in flux at the moment. You have Compact Flash, Smart Media, Memory Sticks (both plain and MagiGate) and the new Secure Digital Cards. This makes it a bit of a lottery when it comes to picking which one to run with.
It is possible to use memory sticks with an iMac or iBook at the moment via the Sony USB memory stick reader (comes with Mac drivers). With the announcement of CD-RW and DVD-R in the new G4s I wouldn't expect to see anything on the MS front until the capacity exceeds that of CDs or cost comes down substantially.
