DVD videos won't play on my PowerMac G4/400. I am running DVD player 2.2. The DVD player won't work with PCI machines but will work with AGP machines--according to the DVD readme. The Apple System profiler tells me I have a PM G4 (AGP graphics) though it also tells me my AGP graphics card (Rage 128 Pro) is in a PCI slot.

Sound works but the video doesn't. When I set the video to "present to screen" my mac crashes. Also, once a dialogue box told me that the DVD player wasn't compatible with my graphics card.

Any suggestions?

All latest updates applied?
OS 9.04, latest DVD player, firmware updates?
I haven't tried DVD with 9.1 yet.
What model is your drive?

Got these extensions installed?:

DVD AutoLauncher
DVD Decoder Library
DVD Navigation Manager
DVD Region Manager
DVDRuntimeLib

I am running 9.0.4. Just downloaded the DVD Player 2.2 from Apple.com today. No other updates. Don't know the drive model, however it came standard with my PM when I bought it last December. It was the midrange model at the time (G4/400/128/20gig/ZIP100/DVD).

I'm not at the PM now, but I recall seeing only three of the extensions that Cipher mentioned.

Is my DVD decoder hardware or software? PM G4 (AGP graphics)

I'll try your advice in StePMan's post: http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/Forum9/HTML/000737.html

I bought my computer December 1999 when it was the mid-range PM (G4/400/128MB/20gig/DVD/ZIP100). It's running 9.0.4 and DVD Player, which I downloaded today. I recall seeing only three DVD extensions on my HD.

Is my DVD decoder software or hardware based?
