Since formac studio has an S video out, is there any way to output the entire mac display to a TV?

Also, is there any way to broadcast TV pictures, around the house. I ask this because I have a wifi network, and would like to watch tv pictures on all my computers, whilst currently only the Mac has a TV tuner through formac studio.

Dave;

To answer part of your question I have obviously seen CPU's output to TV before; but if your connection comes in threw the box; i obviously assume you cannot run it out threw the same box...

Im sure that if you put an additional Video card in your cpu; you could then go from the video card to a tv.

Good luck...

While I have you here...I to am interrested in doing something like this; and would like your two cents. I have yet to pick up the Formac studio box; Is it possible to take set up a G4 home theater using this chain:

Digital cable >> Formac Studio >> G4 867 w/ Superdrive >> Ceiling mounted projector >> Motorized screen.

Im not sure of the quality of the TV signal and was wondering if it was a viable solution.

Any ideas...

Thanks

This should work fine. The quality of the picture is great using S-video, not so great using other methods(for me at least). I do experience some minor lip sync problems though when I feed my cable onto my imac using this method, I don't know if this will be futher aggrevated when output back to the projector.

I've recently emailed Formac about this very subject, and they tell me, flat out, that the Formac Studio does NOT act as a video mirror device for your computer. Meaning that it will not output your mac desktop through the SVHS or composite outputs.

The only way you can get movie files to output through the Formac is to use a DV editing program that has a 'print/export to video' function, such as Premiere or iMovie. You'll also get video output while digitizing through the Formac.

Regarding the home theater setup...cool idea. But I think the only way that would work is if you leave your digitizing software open whenever you want to watch the digital cable, that's the only way to get a signal to pass directly through with the Formac.

It's a great little box for digitizing, but it's not really made for sending video to a TV. You kinda have to go with one of many good video cards available. I don't think there's a good firewire solution just yet...wish there was!

The Formac device does have A/V outputs that can used to connect to a video monitor. You would still need to control the device through your Mac.

Also, look for a program called Vidi, at
Mitz Pettel : Vidi

The video quality is much better than the Studio TVR software.

Please to not be dragging up threads that are 4 and a half years old. It's very confusing for me.
