i have a tibook and want a external monitor for it. i want a nec 1830 lcd because it's vga and it's good enough.
I think i might get a powermac like in a year or so, but i want a apple cinema display with it. can i plug in a vga monitor with the powermac and then plug in the adc plug for the cinema display? i love going dual monitor style and if i buy a lcd now...i want to be able to do it later.
so tell me...if i plug in a vga and a adc monior at the smae time, will they both work?

I have no idea about nVidia cards, but...
One of the blurbs that caught my eye in the ATi PR for the 8500 and 7500 Radeon boards is that they have three outputs: DVI, VGA and S-Video. Any two can be used at a time. Hopefully Apple will bring them out as a BTO option with ADC instead of DVI.
I have to wonder what hit you take running two monitors off one card.
I have a Radeon AGP and an Orion PCI now, and would prefer an 8500 AGP and a 7500 PCI in my next tower, later this year or early next.

There are several ways to use two monitors on current G4s. Buy a dual 800, which has the TwinView NVIDIA card, order a 733 or 867 from Apple or your dealer, and have it configured with the TwinView card, or put a second video card in.
If you want to use an Apple LCD with your TiBook, there is a new adaptor on the market that just came out, which allows you to connect an ADC monitor to a VGA port. I had it in my hands today, but the name escapes me. If I remember it Monday when I go back to work, I'll post it here.

thank you karl,
but goddamn 350 for that thing is way too much. That's a third of the cost of the 17inch.
i think i'm just going to hold off completely. that means almost no new apple equipment until i can legitemately convince myself to get the G5 earlier. I'll be back in 2 years to tell ya how i like my new apple cinema display.
