Does anyone know if such a thing as an Ultra ATA 100 PCI controller card exists yet? I'd love to use one of the new IBM IDE drives. i realize that the ATA 33/66 cards will work but at much slower speeds.

Any help would be great!

No such beast yet exists for the Mac. No real benefit to having one though. The IBM 75 GXPs are super sweet and the fastest ATA on the market, but just barely have sustained read and write that exceeds the ATA-33 standard. We aren't really missing much yet.

Really! So it would be cool just to pick up an ATA 66 capable card. I'd be set for a while. Who has the best prices on a) ATA PCI cards and b) IBM Deskstar HD's?

Thanks!

If you're looking to do video work with those drives, be wary of the Sonnet Tempo ATA66 card. I got one and had tons of trouble with video being choppy. Sonnet eventually told me, after several calls to tech support, that their card has a known issue with choppy video which may or may not be fixed with a driver/firmware update.

For prices, search www.cnet.com. That will get you some good prices to look into.
