I just added Soundsticks to my Mac system. I've got them plugged into my power supply/battery backup surge protector, which is always on. The iSub's blue glow remains on 24/7 (there's no ON OFF switch on the speakers). Is it a problem to leave this on all the time? Will it place premature wear on it, or is it designed to be on all the time?

What kind of wear would a small blue LED cause?

I leave my isub (not soundsticks) on all the time, no problem yet and it has been on for months and months and months, not noticed any massive drain on the national grid either ;-)
I used to unplug it when I used to put my computer to sleep, but since if I unplugged it when the computer was asleep it would cause the computer to wake up (annoying) I left it on. Now my computer doesn't sleep so perhaps I should unplug it again ;-)
Wish I had a nice blue light instead of a green one. :-(
It still rocks though, great for annoying the neighbours.
I should add as well that my isub seems to perform better when left on all the time, it always seemed to take time to 'warm up' when first plugged in until it gave a decent sound.
Odd, would expect this from a valve based amp not a bit of electronics....

That LED won't be burning out anytime soon (or cause any wear whatsoever). Blue LEDs are maybe 200-300x more expensive than than a normal colored LCD though (which cost about 1c each) and won't be found at any Radio Shack.

The lucky mofo has a blue LED. My iSub has a green one.
And my isub makes an annoying noise when it's idle or the computer's off... HUMMMMMMMMM really audible

The standalone iSubs all have green LEDs. The SoundSticks' subs (which technically are not iSubs, the internals are different although they look the same) have the blue ones.

Ya know, i have a sub with my sound system and i had it on my desk ion the open but the second i put it UNDER AND IN THE CORNER of my desk I thought i had a HUGE! subwoofer it increased the bass like you would not believe. even at low volume i can feel the thump easily in my feet. the iSub looks good but try to put it in the corner under your desk and see what happens. make sure it is not a open space, the more enclosed it is the better. my desk is a corner fitting desk with a mostly closed sides. but i bet a cubicle desk would be KILLER! just try it and see what happens. if it does not impress all you bass loving freaks you have the right to yell at me.
P.D.

My Sub and Sticks are on since 2 years, no problem. If you switch of your Mac you can hear a very low noise coming from them.

Yea my sound sticks are kick @ss, I alsways wondered if that light would ever go off but I just got use to it alsways being on.
I wonder if I could plug in a iSub into my USB and see if it would work with with the sound sticks to make 2x the bass.

What kind of Mac are you running?
If it's an iMac, G3, G4 your powersupply is always pulling juice from the wall. The switch on the front is a soft switch versus a mechanical one. There's always some electricty being used. The little bit that the iSub / SoundSticks pull are not going to cause any issues...

I wouldn't worry about it... I've had mine on for a year straight with no problem whatsoever...

Apparently we all agree that the iSub system rocks. It's a nice piece of hardware.
I haven't had any problems with it running 24/7.
Agree that putting it underneath the desk is the best option.
