Hi Guys,

Finally, at last I have an iPOD! I'm very, very happy with my new toy!

The only problems is that I need a good case to protect it from being knocked about. I remember when the iPOD first came out that there were differing opinions on the best case to buy. Some said that particular brands marked their iPODs. Can any one recommend the best case to go for?

Many thanks,

DNA man

I just got my Postless Case from xtremeMac and I love it. It was shipped on friday and it arrive Wednesday from floria to Victoria, BC, Canada. I was very impressed with the speed of delivery.
The case it self is very well made, I opted for the postless one becuase I will never mount anything to my belt and look like a dork. IE: cell phones are not a fasion statment. It's real leather and fits the ipod perfectly, the ipod is not loose in the case at all.

Check it out. They seem to have the most selection and best products.

I got mine from Xtrememac too and I think it's o.k. I got mine with a post though so I have the option of looking like a dork if I want to. I hate holding something in my hand while running and I tried inserting it between my cheeks but it kept working its way loose so it comes in handy to be able to clip it to something. The post is fairly unobtrusive so you can still unclip it and stick it in your pocket.

Although the case does grip your case securely, the vinyl face protector clings so tightly it can be a job to get the pod out again, so if you feel like you're going to be slipping it in and out (know what I mean? nudge, nudge) then you need to take this into consideration. The case is pretty tough though, the sides are padded and the vinyl is quite thich.

Having said all that, I just looked at the case and the vinyl has started to come away from the leather as the stitching has started to work loose.

bugger!
If it rained soup I'd have a fork in my hand!

Cheers,

I see that you are in the UK, is there a UK distributor or did you have to have it shipped by international mail?

No there isn't any UK distributer that I know of, I purchased off them partly because the international shipping was only $10 which was a lot more reasonable than anything up to $35 dollars that other companies were charging. I managed to get 2 cases shipped for that $10 too.

Someone else posted on a forum saying they had bought an iPod case from a shop in Tottenham Court Rd, London, it might be worth giving somewhere like Micro Anvika a ring and see if they have any. Although I couldn't see any on their website i'm sure they have lots more in stock than they show on there.

I just mailed Xtrememac about the damage to my case so we'll see how they respond.

You could also try looking at www.ipodlounge.net as I saw some news articles about European suppliers of iPod cases some of which looked quite nice.

Yeah my case from XtremeMac is very good. There is no wear on it yet. I do, however, know what you mean about trying to slip it in and out. I was gonna show a friend my iPod on its own, I tried for about 3 seconds. Then the conversation turned to: "Hey doesn't it look great in this case, can't you imagine the stainless steel back w/ the laser engraved Apple logo on it?" Whew, I will probably get it out eventually.... but it is really great case.

I really needed something that would store my ear buds, so ordered this case from everythingipod.com

I'll post more info about the case once I receive it.

This one doesn't only look great!
http://www.higoto.com/

It's made out of neoprene --> very resistable
I got their ibook saver 2 sleeve and I'm very satisfied with it.

I think that I will go for the neoprene one. I'd like it to have flap to fit over the front, but I have been told that the neoprene one is the best fit, produces no scratches and has the best shock protection.

Have you considered the do it youself ipod case? or has anyone else? I would love to hear someone that has tried it to see if it actually works! I dont have an ipod yet

Here is what i got of a website about the case and the link to d/l the pattern:
*****
Needing a case, I was inspired by John Corbin's PodPac but thought that the price was a little out of range for what I would get. After looking closely at his design, I made one myself and think I made a few improvements.
It was such a success that I've made a few for some friends and wrote up a pattern that everyone can use to make their own vinyl sleeve for under one dollar in about 20 minutes.
Get the pattern and please feel free to share: http://www.metrius.com/~norb/ipod/sleeve.pdf

Cheers!
