I have a 550Mhz Titanium PowerBook G4 with DVD and am looking for the best RAM deal.I want to max it out to 1GB, or at least get another 256MB. I've been looking around the web, as well as on these forums, but I can't find anything.

1) Where's a good place to buy RAM?

2) Whats the best manufacturer?

3) What RAM would you recommend? Best quality for best price?

Thanks in advance.

Keep in mind that you only have two slots, so buying another 256MB may be a waste (I am assuming you have 256MB built in) because in order to max it out in the future you will have to throw both modules away. I would buy a 512MB module so that when you want to max it out later you can throw away the original 256MB and just purchase another 512MB module. Don't forget about sizing as well. One slot (the bottom) has tighter tolerances than the other and RAM for that slot is a little more expensive.

Crucial is advertising PBG4 RAM.

Check out ram seeker.com , they have all the sites and the current prices. It's the easiest way to compare prices.

Also I'd wait a little bit on the prices. CNBC reported today that RAM prices out of Tiwan will be droping.

Don't buy cheap RAM. Nothings leads to more intermittent problems. I buy only Kingston ram. Don't care where I get it from though. Buy it soon though. It looks as though RAM prices are starting to rise.

Bam! Off to Peripherals this flies! (Since the Peripherals forum does explicitly advertise that "RAM" goes in it.)
