Over the past 2 years, my iSub has collected a lot of crap inside it. I really want to clean it out. Has anyone had success in opening up one these things? I can't seen to access the 4 screws located in each foot of the iSub.

Slick shoes?!! Are you crazy?!!

Have you been able to open your iSub yet?

I opened mine last week and modified it with an volumecontrolso I can change the volume on it to match my Cube pro speakers!

You need to use a sharp knife to insert it between the casing and the lowest part of the feet and then twist a little - they will then pop out!

Dude,

Your volume switch mod sounds awesome!

Would you care to share some details or pics for the those of us who are less electrically engineering minded?

Thanks Petter! I had to use a box cutter to pop the feet off. I took some pictures with my old QuickTake 200 and will post them up later after I finish cleaning out my iSub.

My soundsticks subwoofer used to have a dead spider in it. I sent it all back to harman kardon because theywere causing kernel panics. The new ones do the same so it's obviously apple's fault. Anyway the new sub is clean, for now.

OK - here's a couple of images

iSub 1
iSub 2

We used what we found which was a 10KOhm rectangular multiturn(15) sealed trimmer potentiometer.

Moved a surfaced mounted capacitor to be able to solder the cables connecting the trimmer inbetween.

Used superglue to fasten the potentiometer to the mainboard and drilled a small hole for tuning the iSub sound level!

thats it!
