I want to purchase a firewire PCI card for my PowerMac 7600. Are drivers necessary for these cards or do the Apple drivers work with them all?

I noticed the MacAlly firewire card doesn't ship with drivers. They specfically claim that Apple's drivers work.

The other brands I found were Adaptec, Pyro, Keyspan, and a few others which don't even mention Mac compatibility.

Are they all basically the same?

I can't comment on the others, but I have Orange Micro OrangeLink USB/FireWire card in my beige G3 tower. I used their driver software and it works great. I have 3 FW hard drives connected and use FW with iMovie, Adobe Premiere, and Final Cut. I haven't had a single problem with any of them.

I just purchased an Adaptec 4300 firewire card today. It seemed the most bang for the buck compared to the MacAlly (more expensive) and the ADS Pyro (unsure of their reputation). The Adaptec card required no drivers. It works with Apple's standard drivers.
