Hi,

I have the Iomega predator burner and used it with USB. I didn't have any problems unless you count the 14 coasters out of 15.

I now bought the firewire adapter for it. I use a MacOS 9.2.2 on a imac 450DVSE. I have iTunes 2.02 too.

Well, I installed Roxio Toast 5.0.2, plugged in the firewire cable and inserted a music CD. But the CD didn' mount. Toast didn't recognize the burner either. I then tried Toast 4.1.2 (on the Iomega CD) but that didn't help.

Iomega support told me to uninstall iTunes, which I did, despite my HUGE library. Guess what, didn't help.
The messing around with the extensions, what they recommended afterwards, didn't help.
They don't seem to be the brightest anyway (Support:"Reboot with the USB cable not plugged in" Me: "But it's a firewire!!!").
Today I managed to get it recognized by Toast AND have iTunes installed, but after a involuntary reboot (who doesn't know system crashes) it was gone again. And I don't know how I did it!!!

Does anybody have an idea?? I searched the forum and tried the duplicate extensions setting with the 3 Toast extensions, but that didn't do the trick.

try the firewire setup with OS X if you have X.

Thanks, I don't.
But never mind. After a free Sunday it's up and running, er burning. It wasn't anything serious, I just reinstalled 9.1 and upgraded to 9.2.1 constantly checking if it is still recognized. And it worked.

Kind of a big deal, but well, didn't have anything else to do.

That drive is junk. I would return it now and get a real bunner such as QPS.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
