Okay, so on my G4 at work I'm currently using a 21" Studio Display on loan from another department (at the time I bought my G4 I ordered my own 21" but they never appeared back in stock and thus I never received it). The 21" needs to go back soon and I'd like to get something comparable, but alas Apple doesn't make them any more. Sure a Cinema Display would be fabulous, but I could never justify that expense sadly. I was toying with the idea of a 15" LCD but I don't want to lose much screen real estate if I can help it.
I was wondering if anyone could post their experiences with this display. Good, bad, indifferent? I know all the general positives and negatives of an LCD, but I want to know of any issues with this model specifically. Also, if someone could bust out a tape measure and give me a total screen area of that display that'd be great -- am I correct in assuming that the aspect ratio of that display is different (wider) than a normal CRT? On my 21" right now I have 181.125 in^2 (15.75[h]x11.5[w]) of physical space, and am using a resolution of 1125x870. I guess the resolution of that LCD would come into play too, not just the physical viewable area, so if someone could give me the lowdown on the different resolutions it supports that'd be helpful too.
On the other hand, if I'm completely wrong and I'll lose a ton of real estate with a 15" LCD (I guess if I'm incorrectly assuming it's in the same ratio as the Cinema Display), anyone have any other suggestions regarding a monitor/LCD I should look into?
