Hi,

I need some help. I have an Apple monitor that I would like to use with an old Dell Pentium. I have two monitors, actually, an AppleVision 1710 and an Apple 16" display. I have the required adapter for the Apple video cable to connect to the PC VGA port, and when I connect either monitor, nothing happens. The screen is black. In fact, when I tested both monitors on this machine, the monitors didn't even turn on. Yes, both the PC and the monitor are plugged in and turned on, and I even went so far as to install the drivers in the Display control panel in Win98. Silly me, I thought monitors were inherently "plug and play."

Has anyone else had any experience with this? I have tried to ask the PC people, and they are not nearly as friendly as the Mac people.

I would appreciate any guidance whatsoever.

Much thanks,
Michael

You might have to get one of the adapters that come with DIP switches.
