Ok, well this isn't exactly a PowerMac question, but it is close.

I am doing some shuffling of monitors on my computers, because my Gateway, is at a small desk with a 21 inch CRT display (it takes up half the desk).... My B&W G3 has a 17 inch CRT, which I want to replace with the 21 inch, since I have the room, and want a bigger display for my primary computer.

So I am looking for a good LCD Display.

I was considering a Sony SDM-M61 LCD display, since it has dual input (Analog/DVI) and I have always had great sucess with Sony products (my 17 inch is a sony, and will be going with me to college).

Anyone have a LCD monitor that they really like, besides for Apple's (I want DVI/Analog for compatibility purposes).

I know, it's not going for the Mac, but that's because the Mac has this really cool, BIG new desk. So it has the room. The Gateway has a tiny desk in a corner.
I always use protection when fscking my Mac... Do you?

yeah, wrong forum...this will get moved.

however, to answer your question, i recently bought three 15" NEC MultiSync LCD1550X monitors. analog/dvi, portrait to landscape rotation, simple controls, great design and available in white or black. (i got black).

they are very vivid and bright. i got the 15's because i could afford them...getting 3 17" would have killed me (budget wise).

i'm running all three on my mac (two in dvi, one in analog) with my kvm switch for my pcs connected to on of them that is in use with dvi. a simple button press on the monitor switched between inputs...sweet. i did have 4 separate 17" crts on my desk...no room for nothing else for the above setup. now, with the 15" lcds, i can put my scanner, printer, palm, cell and dsl/wireless&wire router on my desk...plus all my other crap.

i was looking at sony, but the NEC's vividness and controls, in my opionion were better...

but again, check for this in the perphirials formum...it will get moved.

I just have a ghetto setup with two 17" monitors and a cinema display.

I need to get a KVM switch!

I have a ViewSonic VG191b and I must say that I am very pleased with it's overall performance.

Contrast Ratio 500:1

Viewing Angle 170° horizontal, 170° vertical

Response Time Total = 25ms

It has both VGA and DVI inputs and comes with a three-year warranty on parts, labor and backlight.

I just got a Formac Gallery 1740. I bought the ADC model, since it's going on my G4, but they make a DVI model. It's a 17.4" screen. In several major reviews it beat out the Apple 17" model, and it's specs are numerically better than the Apple. It would be worth your while to check it out.

i have a sony sdm-m81 18.1" lcd. it has both dvi and vga connections. its really nice, and i'm quite happy with it. i'd say the display quality is as good as the apple 17".
