Hi

For 2 years, I've used the HP Deskwriter 694C with my Wallstreet PowerBook G3. However, I've just ordered the new Ti PowerBook G4, which doesn't come with the legacy serial ports. How do I connect my printer to the G4's USB port? I searched HP's shopping site for an adaptor, which I thought they had, but can't find any.

Can anyone help, please?

Thanks
Yuhui

If you want to adapt your printer, get a Macintosh products catalogue, or go to any web site such as outpost.com or Macconnection. They sell plenty of USB to serial adapters. Keyspan's adapter has a very good reputation. But it is at this time that I have to blow the compability horn.

You are better off getting an inexpensive Epson USB printer rather than adapting your HP to work with new hardware. Why? Well, adapting a device requires a set of extensions or drivers that enable the adapter device. Then you have to use your older drivers to work with the adapter extensions to send the print job to the printer. Wheras, if you get a new USB based printer the drivers will be made for USB and should work flawlessly.
