I recently bought an Ice Warrior 60GB external Firewire Drive, it works fine on my iMac DVSE.

Today I used it for the first time with my iPod and I seem to have a problem.

If the drive is connected to one of the firewire ports and mounted in OS X, when I connect the iPod it does not mount, but keeps trying to.

The screen says 'Charged' and then the firewire symbol is shown the the iPod symbol then the menu. It goes through then iPod symbol and the menu screen in a loop until I disconnect it.

The only way I can get it to mount and show up in iTunes is to dismount the external drive and then switch it off. The iPod then mounts OK when it is connected.

The strange thing is once it is mounted I can then switch the external drive back on and it mounts and works OK.

The iPod seems to be OK for a while but sometimes gos into the loop again, last time just after I had mounted my iDisk.

I am using the iPod 1.0.4 firmware and OS X 10.1.2.

Anyone got any ideas ?
