Hi, I have an "old" iMac DV w/ 9.0.4, 128mb RAM and Imation 2x Superdisk as well as Epson 740i printer attached. Nothing else.

I have had problems getting the Superdisk drive to work. I did not install the Superdisk drivers and instead used the drivers from the 9.0.4 update. When the drive is plugged into the keyboard, I hear the hard drive whirring and the green light on the caps lock key flashes for a few seconds. It keeps doing that until I unplug the drive from the keyboard. If I plug it into the side ports the hard drive does not whir nor does the caps lock key flash but the Superdisk drive still does not mount the superdisk.

I have tried zapping the PRAM, rerunning the 9.0.4 update, but still the same problem.

Anyone else w/ similar problem or solution?

Thanks for any help!!

Any chance you could try another floppy - maybe even a normal 1.4MB floppy? If that doesn't work then try a different USB cable to the SuperDisk and maybe unplug the printer too. If that doesn't work, see if a friend or local computer shop can test your SuperDisk on their computer just to be sure the problem isn't the drive itself.

I've used a 2x SuperDisk on both my old 400MHz iMac DV and my new 500MHz iMacDV SE. It works great without installing any drivers. I sent away for and received the free matching Lime face plate for my old DV. I particularly like the fact that the 120MB floppies use a genuine write protect instead of the iffy software write protects of other media. You KNOW it can't be overwritten. The new 2x tranfer rate makes it fly too. It even plays video like the new Shaft full screen quicktime trailer right from a 120MB floppy. SuperDisk rocks! Now if they could just come out with a new 240MB version ......joe
