Alright, am I doing something wrong?

I have a WD 30 GB firewire which works fine. I thought it would be nice to set it as the startup drive, but the startup window grays out the drive and tells me that the disk driver software doesn't support it.

I'm running the latest firewire enablers (ver. 2.5) and firewire disk support (ver. 1.0.1). Visits to Western Digital's site say the some drivers don't allow start up selection of firewire drives.

Workarounds, comments, help??

Do you have the latest firmware update?
The low-end Mac Pro is the most overpriced Mac since the IIvx
