A warning for anyone concidering purchasing LaCie products.
3 year warranty - sounds good ! NOT
My LaCie 19" monitor just died. There's still a year and a half left on the warranty. I have to ship the monitor all the way across the country, at a cost of $250 to me. What a jip! I guess next time I'll buy an Apple monitor since they have service in more than one place per country. If your planning on purchasing their products you may want to check their web site to see if their one location in your country is close to you. On the bright side my lacie burner has burnt over 500 cds and still rips good(holding breath).

I managed to ship the monitor for $100 without insurance. Arrived 10 days after shipping. They upgraded my monitor to electron19blue11. Seems like more of a downgrade since its missing all the usb and other connectors. No biggie to me cuz I never used them anyways. Nice to have a new monitor. Still think my next monitor should be easier and cheaper to fix when under warranty.

when i lived in toronto, i needed to take my CD burner in for servicing at one point. i walked down to their offices with my CD burner (which my friend had stepped on, don't ask...) and basically said, "me have broken drive! you fix?" they repaired it "under warranty" the same day.

you're right that it can be both expensive and inconvient if you need to ship your hardware in for repair though. i happened to live near a service centre, which only added to the good service i received from lacie.
