I have followed the threads about CDRW with interest. None have addressed the desireability, if any, of having an internal CDRW such as the VST.
is the VST any good?
The Pismo will take Firewire peripherals, but will the Pismo take an ultra-SCSI card? Would that be better?
USB seems not to be favored by many; I assume that Firewire is better? faster?
Am I right that DVD_RAM will not record standard format music CDs?
thanks for the comments.

No, I doubt that it would...

FireWire is immeasurably better, and a hell of a lot faster. If you have any choice at all, go for FireWire.

I think there are DVD-RAM drives that can burn CD's - not the ones Apple puts in the G4's though.
If it can write normal CD's, then chances are it can write audio CD's.
I don't think there are any DVD-RAM drives on the market for a laptop anyway (internal that is).
If you are getting an external DVD-RAM, it may well be able to write CD's... check.
Personally I suggest a CD-RW over a DVD-RAM.
All modern computers can read CD's, you can make music CD's, other backup CD's, blank CD's are much cheaper than DVD-RAM discs, and also I think CD-RW's are faster.
Anyway, the DVD-RAM's are very slow. But then I guess you don't write as much to a CD as to a DVD-RAM do you?
