I am in need of assistance from anyone here that has had problems with a QPS firewire drive. I have tried in vain to have somone at QPS assist me but seems no one is able to give me correct information.

Below I have included various errors that I have recieved while burning either MP3's, CD copies, or files. I am using the newest version of toast . I am using TDK cd's to write on and am running system version 9.1. The ram cache is set to 64, and actual ram for the program is set to 32. This is my second unit shipped from them as the prior one had a faulty power unit. I am in the process of returning this one as well. I just thought I would attempt a last time before waiting to recieve the third unit from them and having to wait two weeks to get it.

*Lead in or lead out failed to be written.
*The drive reported an error: Sense key=Illegal request, sense code = 0x2c, 0x04, current program area is empty.
*The drive reported an error: sense key = medium error, sense code = 0x02, no seek complete.
*The drive reported an error: sense key = Illegal request sense code=0x24, Invalid field in CDB
*The drive reported an error: sense key = medium error, sense code = 0x0C, 0x07, write error recovery needed.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!!!

Hi,

I just bought a Que Firewire 8x4x32 burner last week and so far it has worked everytime. My
system is 9.1 on a B&W G3 with 256mb of ram. Two good places to look for information would
be at Macfixit and also search the forum at Dealmac as there is volumes of posts on Que and
Toast. From my limited experience I'd suggest the following:
1. Make sure you have all firewire extensions enabled.
2. Reinstall Toast, it should be version 4.1.2.
3. To copy audio cds you need to use the audio extractor bundled with toast.
4. Try a slower burn speed.

Good luck,
Bryan
