Hi

I am so nuts about the new Apple LCD 15", so much so that I almost bought one the day before yesterday...

Only I learned that the new G4 Macs have a different connector built it for the new LCD display. Naturally I my G4 doesn't support that LCD. I am really angry at Apple for stabbing a consumer in the back, just after 4 months and my G4 isn't compatible. I wouldn't bitch about it if I had other options. But now that it IS a Mac, I have a very limited set of options.

I have worked with LCD displays since they arrived, this one is the best I have seen for a fair amount of money.

My question is :

Can I somehow add that think on the graphic card so my G4 can support the new LCDs? Or am I going to have to get my self a new Graphic card?

If so where can I get such a card.

Or am I seriously suppose to buy a new MAC????

Thanks I will appreciate any feedback...

Have fun

1) There is no way to "add" ADC (that's what the new display connector is called) capabilities to your current graphics card. You'll need a new card.

2) Currently, no retail cards have support for the new connector. However, 3dfx has pledged support for it in the future, and future ATi cards like the Radeon will presumably include support.

Apple has said it will offer an adaptor in the (near I think) future, so you can your computer to connect with any of the new ADC screens.

Steve Jobs only wants to know: what did you buy for Apple today. If you bought it last week - he doesn't feel he needs to do anything to help you. The new monitors won't work with you week old G4. The new keyboards won't work. I won't be suprised if when OS X is released he doesn't say: it only works with Mac bought after today. How else can Apple afford to buy me a new jet.

Thank you, Mr. Bill. I think we all know who that is

But seriously, it really is annoying... and knowing Apple, that adapter might not come out until they release their NEXT monitor interface!
Be happy.
