How is it that I insure that my fire wire connections are working as they should be?
I recently acquired a digital camcorder and I can not get it to be read by the computer.
Are there any tests that I can do to tell if the drivers are working??
Do or do not.... there is NO try.

Unless you have access to another FireWire peripheral, I don't know...
Make sure you have FireWire 2.5, and OS 9.04.
Next time, include more system stats... What kinda comp you running?

I am on OS 9.04 and I do have the firewire 2.5.
I am on a G4.
Other than that I am just having a hard time finding anything out in the HELP section on my CPU.
All of the quicktime drivers are installed.
It will not open in I Movie. ???
Do or do not.... there is NO try.

One check you can try is to run the Apple System Profiler and select the Devices and Volumes Tag.If your Mac thinks something is connected to the Firewire port, it will show up on this page.

Also, after plugging in the device, you should hear some hard disk activity as the drivers for the device load.

I have tried everything.
Nothing shows up anywhere...
Are the two ports supposed to be viewable even if there is nothing plugged into them??
Do or do not.... there is NO try.
