alright, this hasn't been discussed too much in the other headphone threads.

i'm looking at replacing the earbud headphones for my ipod. should i just go to a store and buy they $10 sony's? i want to get a good pair to replace my current ones. does anyone have a pair of sennheiser earbuds? are they worth the couple dollars over a regular pair on sony's?

thanks

I have a pair of Sony buds that cost me ~$30 and I have been very happy with them. One of the things I like is they are shaped to fit your ear on the inside, not just a flat face like the Apple or Sennheiser ones.

The Sennheiser MX500s are decent, and I like the volume control on the cord but when I listened to them in an audio store they didn't sound as good . I'm still saving up to get a pair of B&Os A8s!

do yourself a faveur and get a pair of the Sony MDR-EX70s...
a really phenom piece of gear, not as good as the Sony Studio pair that I use to mix live shows, but still really nice (and yeah, i've even used em for that inna pinch when my others got stolen...) they really outshine the B&O's and others... get em at Best buy et al...or here, online.

Yep, those Sony's are niiiice. I just like the B&Os for the look.

For some good headphone reviews check out www.headwize.com, they've got some really knowledgable people over there.

those sony's look great, but i use them while i go to sleep. are these things durable? i mean, i stuff them and my ipod in my pocket and go. would these be able to deal with things like that? i don't mind paying money to get GOOD headphones, but i do mind having to pay for them twice if something happens to the first pair.

thoughts? comments?

thanks

Max, my Sony's are very reliable, I throw them around all the time and I've had them for about two years now. They're not the same model as CMYKid linked up, but generally Sony is a decent brand for quality.

thanks. i ended up buying those sony headphones. i hope they work out well. hopefully they'll last me ATLEAST 2 years. that's how long my grado sr-60s lasted after having been shoved in backpacks and throw around. as long as they last 2 years or more, then that's pretty good.
