Just got an iPod earlier tonight - I love everything about it except for the fact that it's been plugged into my iBook (which is set to not go to sleep) for 3.5 hours now and it doesn't register as being fully charged. I thought that was supposed to take an hour.

Granted, I copied 4GB worth of songs to it through iTunes in this time - but do you think it should be charged by now? When plugged into a computer, does the battery power get drained during disk copying?

I'm hoping I wake up in the morning with a full charge...

It's one hour for an 80% charge, three hours for a 100% charge, and yes, transfering tons of MP3s while charging will gobble up tons of battery life and charging time.

How do you know it's not fully charged? I believe the charging battery always shows whenever it's plugged in, you don't get any notification that it's fully charged. At least that's my experience with mine. I left it plugged in for around three hours and it still didn't show a different icon. Does anyone know if the battery icon actually changes when it's charged?

Of course I used it ~10 hours yesterday and it still shows 2 bars left!

As I discovered this morning, the indicator does indeed change - the battery icon just gets full, and the text changes from "Charging" to "Charged". It finished sometime overnight.

I've been listening to it for 2 hours now and the battery still registers as full. This thing rocks.

Cool, I did not know that and could not find any info anywhere in Apple's KB. I guess I just didn't leave it plugged in long enough.
