You have to have the fax feature specifically added to your cell service. If you don't have that feature, they'll block faxes from going through.

If you're on Cingular, you may be screwed as I don't think they offer that feature anymore with their plans.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I am on Cingular...hah wow what a way to NOT be customer friendly and block services. Oh well I'll check it out...tnks

Whats strange is I can dial the # from my phone and get it to hear the fax receive tone but I just cant get the computer to connect to the phone completely...maybe Cingular blocked that on the phone itself...hmmm

I don't remember exactly, but I think that when I searched HowardForums about this about a year ago, they were saying that doing fax and modem stuff isn't possible just over the phone because of lossy audio compression, so when you use the phone as a fax it has to do something special to make it work, which won't happen unless you have the feature enabled on your account.
