Ok, anyone who gets a tracking number and enters it into the FedEx system will see that their iPod is shipping to you via Alaska, via Taiwan! I just got off the phone with the Apple store, here's the deal. The information is indeed correct. You were assigned a unit inside of a larger shipment. So, when the big crates get to Alaska, FedEx will break them down and ship them to their respective destinations.

This explains why some people that ordered ground shipping now have a FedEx number.

For those who are a bit obsessive wanting to know everything they can about their shipment it appears that Apple is using this service (sometimes regardless of what option you picked, at least in my case):
