The cinema displays have great color and good detail.

But compared to other display manufacturers, the contrast ratio was not tops.

Now I really know that tech specs are not everything.

Would an improved contrast ratio really do so much? (actually, apple had, I think, a rather quiet upgrade done already. Many ads of vendors still showed cinema displays with a 1:400 contrast ratio, while they had long been upgraded to 1:700, I think).

So, aside from the expected HDMI and iSight addition, which improvements would you hope for?

Input options... at least DVI with HDCP, VGA, and s-video... composite and component would be nice, but are largely redundant these days.

Also, prices in-line with industry norms...

isight and $$$, as already mentioned. I've wanted a cinema display for ages but just can't justify the price.

Yeah, I think that is a possibility. Also I have been hearing a lot of rumors of a 17 inch added to the line.

Yup, your right, there was a quiet upgrade to the displays. And it wouldn't be so bad if they did it again in my opinion.

New sizes: 20", 24", 32"
Finish: Matte or Glossy
Fix: No more power brick
Fix: No more backlight bleed (perhaps I just tested the bad batch)
Additions: HCDP support
Marketing: Priced more accordingly to what they offer relative to the market (the markup is ridiculous).

Then I'd probably go for two glossy 24s.

That would be awesome; so much so that it won't happen for a while.

Remember: To Apple aesthetics > all. IIUC a lot of LCDs with LED backlights now are bulkier than most.

Another suggestion: the 20" display is, at the moment, not a high def display.

Which seems outdated, and it should be high def, too.

I LOVE the aluminum displays. I will buy one refurbed if i can after they go away because I never could afford one.

This could change now that Leopard will have resolution independence. I'm hoping for Apple to offer new higher resolution displays soon. Otherwise I think I'm going to buy from HP or Samsung.

Of course it is; 160ppi is actually well behind the curve for phone screen resolutions. Putting a 480x320 screen in 3.5" is pretty disappointing when Dell PDAs were are 640x480 in 3.5" years ago. I think some of the latest phones out of Asia are 640x480 in less than 3".
