I use a DT 233 G3 and an Epson 740. Everything has been going fine for the past year, but now when I try and print from a Photoshop file I keep getting 'unknown error type -192'. MacError cant help, instaling the printer software doesn't help, can anyone help???

It's a printer software problem. Trash all Epson USB Print Class files.

Adam.

What are the "Epson USB Class Files"???

My daughter had an iMac/350 and a Epson 740i/USB. It mostly works fine, but every now and then the iMac won't see the printer and she has to cycle power, reboot etc. etc. and then it will come back up.

It is rather frustrating, especially since she lives over two hours away and I can't just go troubleshoot it every time it happens.

Has anyone seen intermittent problems like that?

dansker, the USB print class files are extensions that are installed with the Epson 740 drivers. They allow USB capable macs of seeing the printer. Now, you have a DT 233 (beige right?) so that means you're using it through the printer port (serial). You don't need to use the USB epson things that are installed. you can turn them off by going to Apple Menu ->Control Panels -> Extensions manager, and then just uncheck them. Or maybe you need the newest drivers? I think it's 5.57. Hope this helps! :-)

oh one more thing, if your daughters iMac doesn't see the printer once in a while, just unplug the USB cable from the computer, and plug it back in. That usually makes the problem all better. Same goes for most any USB device that is plugged in. :-)

The files should be in the Extensions folder in the System Folder.

Epson USB Print Class files are necessary only if you have an iMac with Mac OS 8.1. With anything else, they cause problems. (Actually, they cause problems even on iMacs running Mac OS 8.1.)
