I have acquired an external modem which has absolutely no identifying marks of any type on the casing. It has, if this is any help, a Canadian flag sticker type thing on the rear of the box.

Is there anyway of finding out what script it requires to run or maybe a catchall modem script that may work. I'm just used to plugging in modems, running installers and going with the flow. This one has me stumped.

I know the Federal Communications Commission has a site which offers an identification procedure if you key in the serial number of the modem (or parts of it) but what do you do if the serial number isn't there either? This is a genuine and legal modem a friend gave me so I have no doubts it complies with telecommunications standards. It has been used but no documentation retained.

All help gratefully received. Reciprocation always available.

Many Thanks

Tony Eastwood

You can use Zterm to get info about the modem using AT commands. "ATI" should return the speed of the modem. ATI1 should return the manufacturer. Check out www.download.com of www.versiontracker.com for Zterm.
