has anyone received word of when the new Formac monitor will be shipping? in case you forget, they announced it a couple of weeks ago, and it's a 17.4" LCD display (that apparently has all-around better specs than apple's 17") that uses the ADC and costs $899 (as opposed to Apple's $999). I'm in the market for a flat-panel monitor, and I'm leaning towards the Formac... but only if it ships soon!

check out the monitor if you haven't already, it's quite cool: http://www.formac.com

Anyone?? I'm really tempted to order one soon, but I HATE ordering things pre-order when they are already past their previously announce ship date and still no word..

Anybody order or have or even seen one of these?

in case anyone's interested (cschmelz, looks like it's just you and me here), i got the following response from Formac on Monday 11/13:
We will start shipping the Formac gallery in about one week. However, we
accept backorders at the moment so if you would like to place an order you
can do that either over the phone or on our website.

sounds promising. i also asked them about the protv card-- for those of us w/ a PCI slot, it seems like a *much* cheaper solution than the firewire capture devices-- and the response was we will offer an upgrade (hardware) solution for the ProTV stereo card soon. You should read about it in about 2 weeks. ...very cool!

I've definitely interested... I really want to see a 'real world' response before ordering though...Is the Gallery REALLY as good/better than the Apple Studio 17? ALSO! Either MacMall or one of the resellers of Formac is listing the Gallery 1740 at $850 versus the official formac $899, so there is another $50 savings, but essentially, for me, with my University of Michigan price, they are both $900 +/-

Hmmmmmmm, is the special MVA technology really an improvement over Apple's tech? Better off-axis/contrast/response time...
