CD-R(W)’s seem to be a hot topic here. I just wanted to post my thoughts on a particular product here, so that I can refer to them as a link. (A *new* topic with the same question(s) seems to be posted every other day.) These are just my experience’s, I apologize in advance if any of this comes off as a rant.
1.The *latest* version of Toast DOES support USB Spressa's. Let's put that misinformation to bed.
2.I've have read the negative reports, but I have had zero problems, with my Spressa. About 40 burns now, ZERO coasters!) Some of those reports are OLD. Changes have been made to this unit & it’s software.
3.Every one has their preferences, and I know many folks find 4X burning too slow, but for $199 I think the Spressa is a great product. For some reason I *am* able to burn at 4X on my USB burner, must be magic. That, or the fact I actually defrag my hard drive occasionally, and have 160 Megs of Ram installed. (I don’t use a scaled down extension set, and I wait to burn stuff when I have nothing else to do on my computer)
4.As far as I know, the Spressa is still the only CD-R(W) supported by Retrospect.(It comes w/the Spressa)
Reading these forums I’ve found folks with similar hardware & software (ie, same revision iMac, same OS version), having problems I've never encountered. I chalk it up to different installed extensions/control panels/corrupted files ect. But.....how many of the problems posted here are resolvable by reading the product documentation?
I know I have committed this faux-pas in the past, so I’ll refrain from typing “Do a search of these forums!, Read the FAQ!, or Read the Read-me’s!!”

But I guess I understand after following these and other forums for so long, why all those folks I always considered inconsiderate & rude, answered *my* posts the way they did. Retyping the same solution every week gets old.
There are a lot of folks out there who know a lot more about the Mac then I do. There are also a bunch, who know a lot less. I try to lend my experience to help answer the questions I can. It’s a kick to know you’ve helped some one resolve their Mac woes. I also continue to appreciate the very knowledgeable contributions of admins & members alike.
These are great forums, use them well.

BTW, I have had no USB problems since USB Update 1.1 (I think that’s what it was) & my MS Intellimouse does not pause or hang. How awesome is USB? One iMac, one PC Laptop (wife’s) one set of peripherals. Try doing that with ADB ports and scsi! How many USB devices out there don’t ship with Mac & PC drivers? There, I think I covered all the latest “hot topics”.
