Try using "USB Overdrive" to set up your gamepad, and then click the "Disable input sprockets" button.

Ok,... but where do I find this USB Overdrive? I searched in my iMac and there is no extension, control panel or preferences with this description. Also there is no such option in Quake 3.
All that came with the GAMEPAD PRO was an extension...

Sorry bit of an oversight, it's a shareware control pannel you can probably get from www.shareware.com
It gives you total control over all your USB input devices and input sprockets.

Why are you trying to use a game pad w/a first person shooter. Mouse and keyboard are really the best.
