I borrowed the above CD writer from a PC using friend, to copy some data on to CD. The problem I am finding however is that the copy of Toast Deluxe that I purchased does not appear to support the drive.

It lists the drive and recognises it, but when you try to write an image on to CD, the progress bar appears and just states "ejecting...". It then ejects the blank CD.

It also may be noteworthy that It will not play audio CD's (icons don't appear on desktop), and that when i open toast it says "An unknown driver is installed for the CD-Recorder at ATAPI Bus 0, ID 0. If you run into problems, please remember to disable the driver next time.". I put the extensions to base (9.0.4), and disabled the CD/DVD driver. The same problem occured, without the message.

Help!!!

Check Adaptec's website for an update. My Que USB CDRW drive uses a Mitsumi mechanism and toast works with it (I have 3.8.?, but there's a 4.0.? that works as well).

May be a different Mitsumi mechanism though...

I have a PC Mitsumi drive on my Mac (by Pacific Digital) and it has worked fine with several versions of Toast. However, I did go to the drive manufacturers website and downloaded some USB shims that they had. Check out the manufacturer's site and see what they have to offer for us Mac folks.

I bought the same drive, got if for a great deal... I was having problems with audio cds, it wouldn't read them at all... I was running Toast 4 Deluxe, I had download an update for toast, I was having trouble getting it to update so I reinstalled and followed the instructions off of the adaptec website, and it worked fine... so I'm running with Toast 4.0.2. Deluxe... I get the same unknown driver message that you've got, but everything runs and copies a. o. k... I you have any questions you can email me at phyne10@mac.com

Good luck...
