For some several years, ever since my fairly new SyJet gave up the ghost, I’ve been trying to recover some data from old SyJet cartridges. I’ve ordered several - maybe half a dozen - from eBay, and they all looked good, no visible wear and tear, but none of them would mount my cartridges; they’d accept them, attempt to spin up, then spit them out with a rhthmic beep like a miniature dump truck backing up.
So, are ALL the dozen or so cartridges I have somehow corrupted in such a way that they cannot be spun up, or is was there a problem common to many of SyQuest’s products, there toward the end of SyJet production, that made them unable to spin up their cartridges? Perhaps the ones on eBay are in such good condition because they were all defective and never used?
Does anyone have any info on these machines/cartridges? Whichever is the problem, is there a way to fix it? I just want to recover a couple of manuscripts I’ve been meaning to rewrite for several years now; I’ve had a bit of interest in one of them.
Any help will be appreciated.
Yours truly,
John Mayer
