I guess they're expecting it to be the next Tickle me Elmo.. If it sells that well, maybe they can ask that much

But notice that they are offering a 12 month warranty: Apple only offers 3, so i don't know what is going on there.

The $1110.01 price was a dummy price. It is priced like that to prevent the stores (or website in this case) from "accidentally" selling iPods before they're officially released. (Think about it: $1110.01 or 11/10/01 = release date of iPod)
