I am looking for a way to get 5.1 channel audio on my Macbook Pro. The tricky part of this is that I frequently use Windows XP and OS X so I am looking for an external sound card that works with both...any ideas? The speakers that I am trying to connect are the Logitech z5300e. Thanks!

well..i have a macbook pro and plug a 1/8in from my logitech Z-5500s and i get 5.1 surround, to be honest i dont know why cause the plug i use is part of a set of 3 to achieve full surround but i get all my speaks and sub BUMPINNN with only one.

another option is (DEPENDING ON THE OUTput TPYE)

M-AUDIO - Firewire Audiophile - 4-in/6-out FireWire Audio/MIDI Interface

check the other recording interfaces, the 410 has optical in im not sure about the rest.
