I just installed a zip250 ATAPI into my G3/266 revA, 416MB, 9.0.4 and it wont mount.

It is set up on the same channel as the CD-ROM. CDROM is master, zip is slave. I installed the Iomega tools while I was troubleshooting, then the xtn wouldnt load. So I reinstalled from 9.0.4 and it still wont mount.

Any ideas?

I have disconnected the CDROM for now, and the zip works fine. Does anyone know if the Mac supports slave drives? Or am I doing something wrong?

Your Mac doesn't support slave drives. Only blue G3 and G4 desktops support slave.

Yup, no slave drives for me. Im told it does work on beige G3s, but only more recent revs (B or C & up).

Oh well. Im going to replace my HD next . this will free up an ATA channel. I might then reconnect my CDROM.
