Hi

In my "monitors" control panel, under the "geometry" section i have a button which says "Degauss". What does this do?

Just in case it matters, i got a "Yikes" G4 and a 21" Apple Studio Display "Graphite".

Thanks.

It neutralizes the magnetic field from your monitor.

Fun experiment to try at home:

Take a relatively powerful magnet, and hold it close to your monitor screen. Whee!!! Take care not to get it too close to magnetic media, though. The colors will stay messed up until you de-gauss or reset the magnetic field you messed up in the first place.
