Quick question:
Is it possible to recharge the iBook or Tibook with the included iPod power adpter plugged in through Firewire? I would be nice to be able to take less cable. It would be great if we could!

Yes, in fact I think the firewire cable plugs directly into the power adaptor. So you just need the power adapter and the firewire cable. Just one calbe.

God, I do love this iPod, and I am really not much of a mucic buff anymore. BUT THAT'S CHANGING! I couldn't put the damn thing down after buying one at the new Newport beach Apple store. Christ, I was up till 5AM ripping MP3 and transfering them over to this SWEET BABY....
As for charging, yes it will charge off your laptop's battery with the caveat that it will drain it that much sooner. Keep in mind, however, that your iPod won't charge off your laptop's firewire bus if your powerbook is "sleeping" regardless if it's pluigged in or not to your wall socket.

That's not my question. I know you can recharge from the iBook's battery. I wonder whether or not you can charge the iBook from the iPod's Firewire cord and adapter plugged into the wall. Thanks.

No word on that, but I think it highly unlikely.

I don't think so. I was going to try it, but chickened out. Something about putting voltage into where it's coming out.

Blazes, it's official... don't do it!
From Apple's web site:
The iPod comes with a single power adapter. You can purchase additional Apple iPod Power Adapters from the Apple Store (http://www.apple.com/store/).
The Apple iPod Power Adapter has two parts as illustrated in Figure 1:
1. the AC plug adapter
2. the power adapter
Figure 1: Apple iPod Power Adapter parts
How to charge iPod using the Apple iPod Power Adapter
To charge iPod using the Apple iPod Power Adapter:
1. Connect the AC plug adapter to the power adapter (if necessary).
2. Plug in one end of the FireWire cable to the Apple iPod Power Adapter and the other end to your iPod.
Warning: Never plug the other end of the FireWire cable into a computer's FireWire port.~emphasis added.
3. Plug the iPod power adapter into a working electrical outlet.

Damnit, you killed my fun. I was going to add it my list of questions:
- How fast does your Titantium PowerBook read from business card CDs?
- Can your G4's retractable cupholder take the weight of a full glass of spritzer?
- Is it true the lid of an iBook can be used as a tyre jack?
- Did you know the word "gullible" had been removed from the new edition of Webster's?
Just kidding, I'd never ask newbies questions like that.
Congrats on your iPods. I can't even get to see on here in Oz.
