Hi, I got my iPod today at Peabody "NorthShore" store. I'm having some difficulty. It plays and works as a firewire HD but I can't get it to connect to iTunes 2. Also, when I try to quit iTunes, iTunes quits "responding".
I believe I brought this on myself by connecting it to a computer at the store first and then bringing it home. Is there a problem with connecting an iPod to more than one computer? My wife and I were planning on sharing the iPod and we have separate computers and playlists and whatnot.
Basically the iPod doesn't ever show up on the itunes "source list". Since this is true I can't configure the iPod.
is there a way to reset the iPod back to factory default? I tried to do it from the menus on the iPod but it still shows up on the desktop using the name I gave it at the Apple store and iTunes still doesn't show it.
New info... I was doing all this in OS X 10.1 with the iTunes that i got from Apple a week ago or so. I did two things since posting this originally. First i rebooted into OS 9 and tried it there. It works fine. The iPod shows up in the source list like it should and i was able to configure it to be manually updated. I rebooted back to OS X and it still doesn't show up in the source list. I installed the itunes that came with the ipod. No difference.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Yes - download the Apple iPod Update program. I think they took it off their site, but if you want a copy, email me at timmerk@tcimet.net This program lets you wipe it clean and set it to factory default.
