I have a PM 7600; OS9; 8x CD; Upgraded to 300MHZ via a powerForce card.

The Problem:
I have been using the internal cdRom as a source for cd burning using Toast 3.5.5. Recently, after a series of burns, the internal Apple Drive (not the burner) takes forever to recognize a CD. Data CDs experience a delay when accessing data. Audio CDs take longer to mount, but play normal. Toast gives an error when trying to record at any speed :
Sense Key: Illegal Request
Sense code: 0x24
Invalid field in CDB

I've tried starting with minimum extensions, a CD Rom cleaning kit, even using an older Apple driver.

Is it dying? Should I get a new Drive?

Thanks for your help,

Jon
