Let's collect them all here so the Apple Engineers won't have to cull them from hundreds of individual threads.

I absolutely love my iPod. I was fortunate enough to walk into a local dealer and buy the last one they had in stock on Saturday (this was like 3 minutes after they opened ... damned traffic lights).

One thing I'd like to see in the nexy iPod firmware (or know how to do if it's already possible) is to allow me to play a single iTune from the library and just stop without going to the next iTune. In playlists this is fine as I typically WANT to listen to the sequence of iTunes I've arranged into a playlist. But I don't want that in the library! When I pick a single iTune from there, I'd like it to play it and have it stop, unless I have queued other iTunes up in the interim with the queing feature they'll be adding (maybe this is just part of the queing feature).

I mean after all, I will often have a reading list which implies that I'm going to read everything on it. But when I go to the library for a single book I'm interested in, I don't automatically go to the next book in the library in alphabetical order and read it too.

All they have to add to get me to buy one is either an EQ or better built-in bass response.

But as for other features I'd love the interface to look a little more Apple-like. Make it 4 shades of grey and add some spiffy Apple logos here and there

A lot of people would love it if a radio tuner was thrown in. That'd be fabulous.

Give us BTO headphone/HD capacity options. A lot of people can't stand buds, and a lot of people would like higher capacity.

Obviously the wintel world would love Windows support, as well as USB support. Perhaps a "windows-compatibility" package where the iPod comes with a firewire to USB converter of some sort and windows drivers.

I know this one is a pipe dream, but I'd LOVE for the iPod to have airport compatibility, not even using firewire - that'd be so sweet

That's about all I can think of for now.

I've got a couple of interface issues with how iPod syncs with iTunes.

I have more music than the thing can hold so that's fine. I deleted the songs that I didn't care for out of my Library and then it synced about 4.5 gigs in under 10 minutes. All good.

But now, today, I have my iTunes back with all its songs. Now I can't sync anymore because it says its too much again. I figured I could do it manually. But it won't let me rename one of my playlists. It's renamed in iTunes but not in the iPod.

I even made the stupid mistake of selecting the Sync Playlists only option. Figuring that now I could sync playlists and then drag new playlists into the iPod to add some new songs. Doing this just kept my playlist songs on the iPod and wiped out pretty much the entire 4.5 gigs off of it.

Also, there needs to be a way of changing, adding, and deleting playlists right from the iPod. If I'm out on a train or whatever, I don't have a Mac to sync to in order to Fix my settings. Plus it has to be my machine at that.

Also, a sort by Album would be a very useful option as well, not just Song and Artitst.

I'd tend to disagree here. To me, one of the HUGE features that sold me on the iPod is that it's iTunes in a gadget. It mirrors iTunes' functionality as best a gadget possibly can (or at least that seems to be the idea). This is the way iTunes works, so it stands to reason that the iPod would do the same.
As far as the feature being anywhere at all, I still say things are good the way they are. In iTunes, I have the choice of pulling up a playlist that I've created and listening to the whole thing. But what is really the kicker for me is when I go into the library, command-click a few different artists, turn on shuffle, and hit play. Wow. I love that. That wouldn't be possible without iTunes' tendency to move on to the next song in the library. Nor would it be possible simple to browse to an album (which I may like just fine, and not feel the need to rearrange) and hit play, and listen to that album straight through.
It's definitely important to keep things the way they are in this case.

I'd like to echo what was already said in another post, that browsing by Album should be in the main menu. But what irks me even more is that Genre is not there! I dunno about you guys, but I have really eclectic music tastes. Seeing Enya, Rammstein, John Williams, Fatboy Slim, and the Baltimore Consort all in one Artist list just doesn't sit right with my brain.

Also, it's frustrating to have to navigate back to "Now playing" just to adjust the volume by a notch or two. While I hate to mar the simplicity of the design, it'd be nice to have a separate volume knob, or some way to adjust the volume no matter what's on the screen.

And while this isn't correctable in firmware obviously, is anyone else disappointed by how freely the wheel spins? When I first watched the Jobs keynote, I assumed it would be much tighter, and probably with some sort of ratcheting action too. I would have preferred a wheel like that, since I turn the clicks off.

Which brings up another feature request. The clicking is great -- but not when everyone around you has to listen to it too. Why can't the clicking have been designed to happen in the earphones and not aloud from the device itself?

Of course, these are all just nitpicks in by far the best music gadget I've ever owned.

Hmm, I feel a bit stupid. I had complained before that there isn't an Album option from the main menu, however if you just go to Artists -> All, then there's your album list.

However, I still want my bloody Genre list!!!!

I do not *not* want the features you mention, Jerjerrod ... in fact, I want that exact feature - but where I have the ability to construct a list of any size, even a list with size = 1. I just don't want it moving on and playing songs I have NOT selected. Ultimately, this just seems to be the queing feature mentioned in another thread.

I want to be able to edit playlists on the device. A simple playlist can act as a queue, killing two birds with one stone. That's the big thing that's missing from the interface, now that I know that I can choose an album via "Artists > All". That's a cool tip!

I also want them to fix 1-song repeat. If I choose single-song repeat, I can't use the next/previous song buttons. I like to listen to a single song until I get tired of it then move on to the next one. As it stands, I have to turn off 1-song repeat, change songs, then turn it back on.

That's not as hard as it sounds, actually. I just change the repeat settings and let it sit there. After a moment, it will change from the "Settings" screen to the "Now Playing" screen. When I want to change settings again, I just press the menu button, and it immediatly goes to the "Settings" screen. That's pretty convenient.

I would like to see a basic EQ. Maybe bass, treble and mid. A line out would be awesome. Grey color to match the Tibooks. Of course more storage. Not that I'm not happy with the present iPod.

Wireless headphone will be nice. Current earbud headphone is way too big and too uncomfortable. See my message in another thread.

(copy of what I sent to Apple)

Love the iPod. My Girlfriend (who does not even know what an MP3 is) saw it the day it came out and said she wanted one. So, I bought two. Last night we both stayed up ripping our CDs (her onto the TiG4 and me on my G4 PowerMac). Both as happy as can be. She took it to the office today and showed everyone. Love at first sight. She almost starting crying when I showed her the Brickles game.

So, here are my suggestions for software upgrade and the firmware:

Firmware upgrade Suggestions:
- Cross Fade playback (like in iTunes2)
- Equilizer (basic is fine)
- Genre browsing

Next Gen (iPod2)
- Basic Bag case (like Sony MDs)
- Firewire Cover
- Softer corners
- 10, 15, 20 GB versions
- More muted colors (to match Quicksilver, TiG4)
- Mic input
- Headphone remote (maybe through firwire?)

Keep up the great work.

Actually, we may not have to wait very long for this. The headphone jack on the current iPod has extra connectors around the rim, presumably for a remote control-type device. I'd love to get my paws on such a thing.
