I have a Compaq Aero 2130, and was wondering how I can hook this thing up with my Mac. I really want to exchange contacts w/ Outlook Express.

Can anyone help me?

Todd, It's a Windows CE PDA.

As far as I know, the only way to transfer data from a Mac to one of these things is via SoftWindows or Virtual PC.

Yeah, but how do I plug the thing into my Mac? It has a serial connector. Is there some sort of converter?

And are you sure that there is no Mac-native way to sync it?

Todd, you've used your real name in a few posts. (Unless there are two wlonhs and you aren't that wlonh.)

http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/Forum2/HTML/000869.html

maceye, if that is your real name, you can buy a simple PC serial to Mac serial adapter at just about any computer store.

It looks to me like wlonh was merely posting an email from a person named Todd.

Thanks for the info.

Most of them were other moderators and administraters referring to wlonh as Todd. They all seem to have disappeared. I know that they existed prior to me mentioning it in this thread.

wlonh, or Todd, or whoever you are; you wouldn't have anything to do with these posts disappearing; would you?

Adam, i know you hate to be wrong, NO ONE but YOU has EVER referred to me as Todd

NO ONE, NEVER sorry Adam

and though it is NOT my name (Todd) i would HARDLY spend a nanosecond deleting any references to me that never existed...

that would be totally bizarre, n'est-ce pas?

To get back to the original topic, does anyone know if I have to use Virtual PC to sync this thing?

Also, is there an elegant wide serial port to USB converter like the Keyspan USB to Mac Serial adaptor?

You don't need Virtual PC; you can use SoftWindows or a PC compatibility card.

The Keyspan USB PDA adapter should work with your Aero - assuming that you have USB-equipped Mac. Otherwise, go with Palm's, yes Palm's, Macintosh Serial Adapter.

The serial connector is a PC style one - it is not round but rectangular. Hence, I can't use Keyspan's serial adaptor.

I just went to the Palm page, and apparently I was mistaken about the whole serial port shape thing - if I use the Palm adaptor and a USB to serial adaptor, I should be fine.

Thanks for all the help.

Oh. Thanks. Just one connector should make the hookup a little simpler.
