Hi everyone,

So I just found out, after ordering it (stupid, stupid), that the LaCie Little Big Disk 320GB has a rotational speed of only 5400rpm.

I am aware that if it is dense enough (well if someone wants to explain that whole concept, I am not opposed to that ) that this may not be a problem, but here is my problem:

I want to edit digital video with this drive and I am very worried about it dropping frames because of the lower rotational speed (as opposed to 7200rpm).

It does however have a 16MB Cache and supports Firewire800.

Does anyone know whether I will run into problems while using this drive for video editing?
Does anyone think things will go absolutely smoothly and that I shouldn't worry?

Has anyone actually used this hard drive for video editing and might be willing to share their experiences?

Thank you so much!!!

The LaCie Little Big Disk uses notebook-class hard drives for a small, portable unit.
If portability isn't what you want, I'd instead look at a unit that uses standard 3.5" desktop-class hard drives. It'll be much faster and less expensive for the same capacity.

Thanks for responding-

I do indeed want portability- that's why I bought it. I own another own that's bigger and has 7200rpm- I just wanted something that was easier to travel with.

Do you think it will work well for video editing?

Thanks!
