My Lexmark C510 has been a real disappointment: it's now partially working with a processor issue too expensive to repair. But it was a Postscript printer which produced very attractive pages from InDesign.
I'm now seeking a replacement, but can't spend in the $1000+ range. I need a Postscript-compatible printer with excellent image quality and durability, preferably a printer which accomodates high-yield cartridges.
Suggestions?

I'm a big fan of HP's color lasers. For for postscript/OSX support, I'd look at the HP CLJ2605DN ($450@NewEgg) or CLJ3800 ($770@NewEgg) for higher volume (which usually means more reliable).
The Xerox Phasers are also an option... the 61xx and 85xx series are in the $250-750 range after substantial MIR.

If it comes to color lasers, I'm partial to Oki printers. Fast. Reliable.
I'm pretty disappointed with newer HP lasers, our LJ 4250 DTN is giving us nothing but trouble (after 10k pages, the mechanics broke and we have trouble printing via ethernet, including lots of crashes of the printer's OS).

Thanks! (More input on this subject much appreciated).
Looks like the cheapest OKI with PS is the C6100 series. I kind of forgot that duplex would be very very nice to have. I'm looking hard at the C6100dn now.
The Oki's have relatively-low resolution: 600/1200, but no one seems to mind this?

It doesn't matter for laser printers. The 2400 dpi you see in HP's brochures is just for marketing, the actual mechanics has at most 1200 dpi capability. Plus, any cheap inkjet will have a better photo quality than a color laser. Also, inkjets are better at printing transparencies.

To be honest, the quality looks a LOT better on the Oki than the HP. It looks more like a magazine compared to the HP's newspaper look.
