I haven't seen this topic addressed since early last year; if I missed something, my apologies.

I am looking for a scanner recommendation in the under-$500 range for my wife. She has an iBook [Key Lime firewire/USB], and would use a scanner to scan in old photos [possibly transparencies as well], as well as print media,a nd maybe even an occasional small 3D object.

I am open, if it makes sense to some combination units that copy & fax as well.

Needs to work well with both OS 9 and OS X.

TIA!.

You missed this post in your search (by me). Check that for some ideas.

I'm still looking, actually, but it seems like there are lots of options and many of them are cheap. You can get what you want for under $100, easily. Check deal-mac right now. There's an Astra 3xxx for $50. Not sure if it does everything you need, but scanners are cheap.
