my dad has a pc in the study and wants to be able to listen to internet-only music on it in the kitchen. So he needs some kind of wireless speaker solution.

One option is airport express and some powered speakers. This seems like it could be expensive, and i only need the audio capability of aiport express.

Another is a set of powered wireless speakers (although i haven't seen any!)

Does anyone have any suggestions? i need both the speakers and wireless solution! ideally the cheaper the better.

The airport express is probably your best bet, however you might be able to use an FM transmitter like this one and then just setup a little radio in the kitchen to pick up the station. This might not work if the kitchen is very far from the study however. Just a thought.

Does the internet-only music station work with iTunes? If not, APExpress is useless without resorting to hacks.

Maybe these will work? the rears are "wireless" with a transmitter in them so that all you have to do is plug them in into any wall socket in range of the transmitter and the music goes to them.
This way your dad can have music in his study, and when he wants to, plug the rears into the kitchen if it's within range,

Surround - 5.1 > Logitech® Z-5450 Digital 5.1 Speaker System

a little pricier than I'd like, but if they will do the job, than so be it.
