I am considering getting a new GX late next year (OK, so G5, if that wasn't out I'd wait...). I want one of those 17" ASD's to go with it, everyone has said how nice they look (yet to see one...heh). The one thing that really stings IMO is the price, even tho LCD's are getting cheaper, I doubt that they are worth double their equvilant CRT (high quality CRT 19" - lets take a sony 19" - is $1000AU - ASD 17" is $2000AU - I'd say their sizes and quality would be equal - the whole VIS LCD = marketed size, etc).

So, if thats 18 months away, what I wanna ask is, how much were the ASD15" LCD and ACD22" LCD's, 18 months ago (as of MWSF00). I'm hoping the 17" will drop to $1000AU by then.....

I recall the 15" being US$999 a year or so ago, now $600. Was the 15" ever over 1k?

The 22" was $3,999 USD.

Welcome to the forums.

Apple's 15" LCD debuted at $999 USD and the 22" at $3999. Both have had significant price drops since. In time this will be true for the 17".
